# Areen Commerce — leave Shopify for $500 a year

Areen moves an online shop off Shopify onto infrastructure the owner controls.
Same capabilities, no platform licence, and no cut of what you sell. You own the
result: the code and the data are yours, and any developer can work on them.

## Pricing

### Your own shop — $500/year, everything included
- The build and the migration cost you nothing.
- Hosting, updates, backups and monitoring included.
- 2 hours of changes every month, included.
- For a single shop at or under $50,000/month in order value.
- Above that ceiling, or for more than one shop, it is quoted.

### Agencies and multi-store — quoted per store
- One-off build and migration (indicative: $25,000 per store),
then flat monthly hosting (indicative: $350/store).
- White label, one isolated instance per client, full source at handover.
- No revenue share, ever.

## What is included

Products and variants, collections, inventory across locations, multi-warehouse
fulfilment, carts, checkout, discounts and promotions, gift cards, tax by region,
multi-currency, multi-region storefronts, Stripe and other gateways, order
management, returns and refunds, draft orders, customer accounts and groups, B2B
price lists, subscriptions, an admin dashboard, roles and permissions, an
API-first headless storefront, webhooks, search, analytics, and full import and
export.

## How migration works

1. **Audit** (week 1) — every app, customisation, webhook and integration in use.
2. **Data migration** (weeks 2–3) — products, customers, orders, refunds, discounts
and gift card balances, run repeatedly against staging until reconciliation is clean.
3. **Storefront and admin** (weeks 3–7) — rebuilt in your framework, reviewed in
staging while the old store keeps trading.
4. **Cutover** (one evening) — final delta migration, a 301 map for every existing
URL, DNS moved with the TTL pre-lowered. Reversible until you are satisfied.

## Questions

### What is the catch at $500 a year?

There isn't one, but there is a reason. Hosting a shop of this size costs us very little, the platform is already built, and migrating you is mostly automated — so the marginal cost of one more small shop is small. We would rather have a hundred small businesses that stay for years than chase a handful of big contracts. The honest limits: it is one shop, up to $50k a month, and 2 hours of changes a month are included. Past any of those we quote it properly.

### What exactly are the 2 hours?

Real work on your shop: a new section, a design tweak, a field you need on the order form, an integration that broke, a hand with something in the admin. Not a support ticket allowance — actual development time. It does not roll over, and anything bigger gets scoped and priced before we start so nobody is surprised.

### What if I outgrow it?

Then you are doing well, and we will tell you before you hit the wall rather than after. Above $50k a month we move you onto a quoted plan sized to what you actually need. It is still far below what the same growth would cost you in platform fees, and nothing about your shop has to change.

### What happens if I stop paying, or you disappear?

You keep the shop. The code and the data are yours, we hand over everything on request, and any competent developer can take it from there. That is the difference between owning something and renting it, and it is the whole reason to do this.

### What is it actually built on?

A modern, API-first commerce core, with our deployment, migration and admin tooling on top of it. You get the full source at handover, so nothing stays hidden once we work together — and if you want the architecture walked through before you commit, we will do that on a call.

### Is this a template, or a real rebuild?

A real rebuild. The storefront is written in a framework your team already works in, the commerce layer is deployed per client, and the code lives in your repository. There is no shared theme you are one of four hundred tenants on.

### What happens to SEO?

Every existing URL is mapped to a 301 before cutover, and the map is reviewed against the live sitemap and search console data rather than guessed at. Structured data, canonical tags and metadata carry across. Rankings do not survive a migration that skips this, which is why it is a named deliverable rather than a hope.

### How long is the store down?

It is not. The new store runs in staging while the old one keeps trading, a final delta migration catches everything that happened in between, and DNS moves with the TTL already lowered. The old store stays reversible until you are satisfied.

### What about the apps a client depends on?

The audit lists them in week one. Most are replaced by functionality that ships as standard. The rest get built, and then they are yours instead of rented — that is usually where a large part of the monthly saving comes from.

### Can we take it in-house later?

Yes, and that is the point of handing over the source, the infrastructure code and the runbooks. There is no licence key to revoke and no vendor you have to keep paying to keep the lights on.

### What if I am better off staying on Shopify?

Then stay, and we will say so. Run your numbers through the calculator above — if it comes back telling you to stay put, that is the real answer and not a negotiating position. This is worth doing when the fees have become a line item you notice, or when the platform is blocking something the business needs.

### How do we start?

Email hello@areen.io with roughly how many stores you run and what is prompting the question. You get a reply within one business day, then a call to scope it, then a fixed quote in writing before anyone commits.
